IN THE UNITED KINGDOM: Glasgow Landlord-Tenant Relationships Poor

Rishi Sunak

MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM --

In Rishi Sunak’s most recent Budget statement, which he shared in parliament on Wednesday, March 3, the Chancellor of the Exchequer admitted it will take a “very long time” for the UK’s economy to fully recover.

Housing was an important issue addressed by Sunak. He said that the stamp duty cut will be in place for another three months and that there will be a “government guarantee” on 5% deposits in an attempt to get more people on the property ladder.

New research has shown that 55% of tenants whose landlords offer financial help such as rent reductions and payment breaks report a better relationship with them, which has helped the so-called ‘Generation Rent’.

Letting management platform Mashroom surveyed 1,000 tenants and landlords in the UK to find out how rental relations are faring in the current climate.

They found that;

·         Glasgow has the worst relationships with their landlord with 14.29% of respondents reporting a bad relationship

·

·         Brighton named the best place in the UK to rent for a good landlord relationship, 90% of respondents state a very good relationship.

·

·         East Midlands have the best landlords - tenant relationship in England with 52.94% of respondents reporting a very good relationship.

Mashroom’s data reveals 75% of tenants describe relationships with their landlord as “good” and “very good” as 89% of landlords feel the same. They found that women have a better relationship with their landlord, with 46.67% of the respondents reporting a very good relationship.

Stepan Dobrovolskiy, CEO of Mashroom, said: “Tenants and landlords often see each other as enemies, but a lack of communication is usually the reason why relationships break down."
