Judy Garland's Malibu Beach House for Sale at $3.8 Million

Judy Garland

MALIBU BEACH, CA -- The Malibu beach house where Judy Garland lived with her second husband, Vincente Minnelli, and their daughter, Liza Minnelli, shortly from after it was built in 1947 into the 1950s is for sale.

Completely rebuilt in 2013, it is priced at $3.895 million.

Liza Minnelli

What’s better than to cozy up on a rainy Sunday afternoon and sink into old movies, some of the best of which starred Judy Garland.

Vincente Minnelli

With her exceptional singing voice, the studios cast her in the best musicals of the time such as Wizard of Oz, Meet Me in St Louis, The Harvey Girls, and Easter Parade - still big favorites on cable television.

Courtney Cox

Moviegoers were stunned by her voice and her youth, making her early films huge box office hits. It was only later when she starred in films without singing and portrayed as an adult, that her popularity failed and her movies lost money for the studios, according to TopTenRealEstateDeals.com.

Cher

Garland went through five marriages and had many highly publicized affairs beginning as early as age 18.

Lady Gaga

Her serious relationships of marriage, such as the one with director Vincente Minnelli, produced three children, including Liza, who had the gift of the voice gene that would carry on the family vocals after her mother’s death in 1969.

Judy had mental health issues that began as a teenager, thought to be brought on by her stressful work as a child performer, which she attempted to drown through substance abuse.

Leonardo DiCaprio

In 1969 in London, Judy died of an accidental drug overdose.

Measuring 1,311 square feet, the former Garland-Minnelli beach house is on Malibu’s Las Tunas Beach within a stretch of beach homes that have been the backdrop for a number of films.

Enjoying uninterrupted ocean-and-beach views, the house has three bedrooms and three baths with a double-view fireplace for both the vaulted-ceiling living room and dining room.

Designed in Cape Cod style, entry is through a private courtyard. The first floor has views straight out to sea through ten-foot accordion doors opening onto the expansive deck where one can sunbathe or entertain guests.

Robert Downey Jr.

The kitchen has been completely updated with marble countertops and Viking appliances. Upstairs, the master bedroom opens onto its own private oceanfront deck.

Malibu Beach has long been known for its large number of celebrity homeowners.

Miley Cyrus

Not only does Malibu provide miles of beautiful sandy beach, there are numerous upscale eateries on the water where celebrities and everyone can dine casually or more formally with views of the breaking waves.

Some longtime residents include Courtney Cox, Cher, Lady Gaga, Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert Downey Jr. and Miley Cyrus.

The listing agent for the former Garland home is Sally Forster Jones, Compass, Los Angeles.

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam Announces Amazon to Build Robotics Fulfillment Center in Henrico County, Hiring Over 1,000 New Employees

Gov. Ralph Northam

RICHMOND, VA —Gov. Ralph Northam announced that Amazon continues to invest in Virginia with the launch of a new, state-of-the-art robotics fulfillment center on 119 acres of ancillary land at Richmond Raceway in Henrico County.

The company will construct a multi-story, 650,000-square-foot facility with innovative robotics technology, adding over 1,000 new jobs to Amazon’s existing workforce of more than 27,000 full- and part-time employees in the Commonwealth.

                          Brian Ball

The facility will be the first of its kind in Central Virginia and is anticipated to launch in 2022.

“Amazon continues to demonstrate confidence in Virginia by expanding and reinvesting in our Commonwealth,” said Governor Northam.

“This new robotics fulfillment center in Henrico County is the latest milestone in the growing partnership between Amazon and Virginia, and reinforces our standing as both a technology hub and a leader in supply chain management.

Alicia Boler Davis

"As we work to rebound from the impacts of the pandemic, we are grateful for Amazon’s commitment to supporting our communities and providing jobs to thousands of Virginians.”

Amazon first launched its Virginia fulfillment operations in 2006 in Sterling. Since then, the company has grown its robust operations network to include more than 10 fulfillment and sortation centers and delivery stations.

 Frank J. Thornton

In addition to the company’s Arlington headquarters, Amazon also has 13 Whole Foods Market locations across the Commonwealth and three Prime Now Hubs

In March 2020, Amazon announced a robotics fulfillment center in Suffolk and a processing center (cross-dock) in Chesapeake. Both facilities are anticipated to launch later this year.

“Virginia is uniquely positioned to provide Amazon with unparalleled access to national and global markets, as evidenced by the company’s state-of-the-art fulfillment centers across the Commonwealth,” said Secretary of Commerce and Trade Brian Ball.

Lesa Kennedy

“Our transportation and logistics infrastructure provides businesses direct connectivity for distribution, one of many advantages Virginia boasts in the supply chain industry.

"We are proud to be home to much of Amazon’s continued growth, and we thank the company for its additional investment in the Commonwealth.”

Since 2010, Amazon’s investments have contributed an additional $17.5 billion to Virginia’s economy and helped create over 52,100 indirect jobs on top of Amazon’s direct hires—from jobs in construction and logistics to professional services.

Stephen A. Edwards

In addition, more than 48,000 independent authors and small and medium businesses in Virginia are selling to customers in Amazon’s store.

“Amazon has been proud to call Virginia home since 2006,” said Alicia Boler Davis, Amazon’s Vice President of Global Customer Fulfillment. “Collectively it takes a strong workforce and local support network to serve our customers across the Commonwealth and the region.

"The launch of this state-of-the-art fulfillment center in Central Virginia will create more than 1,000 jobs with industry-leading pay and benefits starting on the first day of employment. I’m excited to see Virginians continue to excel at Amazon, building better and brighter futures.”

 Leslie Haley

Amazon offers highly competitive pay and benefits starting on the first day of employment. The company provides a starting wage of $15 an hour and offers full-time employees industry-leading benefits, including full health, vision and dental insurance, 401(k) with 50 percent company match, up to 20 weeks paid parental leave, and Amazon’s innovative

Career Choice program, which pre-pays 95 percent of tuition for courses in high-demand fields. Since the program’s launch, over 1,600 employees in Virginia have pursued degrees in game design and visual communications, nursing, IT programming, and radiology, among others.

In addition, Amazon has pledged to invest over $700 million to provide upskilling training for 100,000 U.S. employees for in-demand jobs.

Lamont Bagby

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with the Henrico Economic Development Authority, The Port of Virginia, and the Greater Richmond Partnership to secure the project for the Commonwealth.

Amazon is eligible to receive benefits from the Port of Virginia Economic and Infrastructure Development Zone Grant Program, as well as the Virginia Enterprise Zone Program, administered by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development.

Funding and services to support the company’s employee training activities will be provided through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.

“Thank you to Amazon for selecting Henrico County for one of its world-class e-commerce facilities,” said Frank Thornton, Henrico County Supervisor representing the Fairfield District

The site is an ideal location for a major e-commerce operation, and we thank the Richmond Raceway team for connecting us to Amazon and Hillwood Partners.

"We know Amazon strives for the highest level of customer satisfaction and with Henrico’s workforce offering all backgrounds and skill levels, Amazon will succeed.”

“We are proud to be a part of Henrico County and the Richmond business community,” stated Lesa Kennedy, Executive Vice Chair of NASCAR.

“Amazon is an important partner for the Commonwealth of Virginia and we know they will be a great community partner for Henrico County.

"We look forward to the success of this outstanding facility and the incredible opportunity it will create for years to come.”

“Amazon’s growing presence in Virginia is helping create jobs, fuel the state’s economy, and build the amount of cargo moving through The Port of Virginia,” said Virginia Port Authority CEO and Executive Director Stephen A. Edwards.

“The company’s strategic decision to build a new fulfillment center in Henrico County allows Amazon to better serve its customers while capitalizing on the supply chain efficiencies and service delivery the port offers.

"We value Amazon’s partnership and are looking forward to growing this collaborative and beneficial relationship.”

Port of Virginia

“We are thrilled that Amazon has recognized Greater Richmond as a top logistics location by selecting Henrico County for this new state-of-the-art robotics facility,” said Leslie Haley, Chair of the Greater Richmond Partnership and Chesterfield County Supervisor.

“This is the latest among Amazon’s major investments in the region and will provide much-needed jobs for our residents.”

“I am extremely pleased that Amazon chose our community for its new fulfillment center,” said Delegate Lamont Bagby

“Henrico County has become a top destination for the technology industry and now the e-commerce industry.

"Amazon’s decision to invest and locate its newest facility here speaks volumes to the collective efforts the Commonwealth and Henrico County provide in our efforts to build an economy that is both innovative and diverse.”

EDEN Living Adds Jacky Sasson as Director of Land Acquisition in Miami, FL

Jacky Sasson

MIAMI, FL, April 23, 2021 – EDEN Living, the new horizontal apartment development firm created by EDEN Multifamily principals Jay Jacobson and Jay Massirman and America’s Capital Partners (ACP) Principal Sergio Socolsky, announces the addition of Jacky Sasson as Director of Land Acquisition.

Based in Miami, Sasson is focused on sourcing new acquisition opportunities and supporting the venture’s entitlement, market analysis, underwriting and operations – among other aspects of multifamily development and ownership.

Jay Jacobson

Prior to joining EDEN Living, Sasson served as Land Acquisition Manager at D.R. Horton affiliate Forestar Group, leading the acquisition and entitlement for residential projects.

His industry experience also includes a similar role at MAS Development, where Sasson participated in the acquisition, entitlement, and development of more than 4 million square feet of commercial and residential development.

Sasson also worked with private hard money lender New Wave Loans, where he underwrote more than $30 million in commercial and residential assets.

“Jacky’s diverse real estate background and business acumen will greatly enhance our growing team at EDEN Living,” Jacobson said. “He has the ability to help us move quickly with our venture’s ambitious expansion plans.”

Born in Bogota, Colombia and raised in Miami, Sasson earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from renowned Massachusetts business school Babson College. He also studied abroad in Shanghai, China.

Jay Massirman

“I am excited to be part of a versatile team that is embarking on innovative projects in Florida and eventually beyond,” Sasson said. “EDEN Living is poised to disrupt the multifamily industry with our horizontal apartment platform.”

EDEN Living leverages the partners’ 100-plus years of combined experience and unparalleled track record in the multifamily industry. EDEN Living already has several projects in the works in Florida and plans to eventually expand the platform nationally.

The mission of EDEN Living is to redefine an underserved segment of the rental population by providing a lower density, private living experience to such renters.

Sergio Socolsky

EDEN Living will develop one-story living environments (and two-story townhomes in some locations) that provide enhanced privacy, exterior living space, courtyards and private landscaped backyards.

Projects will include amenities that are on par with what is found in traditional Class A multifamily communities.

Horizontal apartments are built as single-story detached homes or two-story townhomes, with their own private entrances and backyards. In the EDEN Living model, the only exception is that many of the one-bedroom units are single-story duplexes sharing a center wall.

Two and three-bedroom homes are detached, while mimicking the layout and square footage of a conventional apartment.

EDEN Living is working on initial developments in Miami-Dade, Duval and Brevard counties evidencing approximately 1,100 units.

High-priority target markets include South Florida, Orlando, the Florida Space Coast, Tampa, Southwest Florida and Jacksonville.

Beyond Florida, the firm is focused on the Atlanta, Charlotte, Memphis, Nashville and Knoxville markets.

EDEN Living affiliate RKW Residential, a multifamily property management firm with nearly 25,000 units under management across six states, will oversee management and leasing at the firm’s developments.
