AFFORDABLE HOUSING APARTMENT OWNER COMUNIDAD PARTNERS NAMED FREDDIE MAC’S 2021 IMPACT SPONSOR OF THE YEAR

Antonio Marquez

Austin, TX — Comunidad Partners, a minority and women-owned real estate investment firm that specializes in workforce and affordable housing communities in culturally diverse neighborhoods, has recently been selected as an awardee for Freddie Mac’s newly created Impact Sponsor Award.

“Being awarded Freddie Mac’s Impact Sponsor of the Year recognition is truly an immense honor,” says Antonio Marquez, Managing Partner at Comunidad Partners.

“This award speaks to the commitment by Freddie Mac to bringing housing and social impact resident services to those in underserved communities and enhances our ability to serve our impact housing mission through our partnership together.”

Anthony Tarter

In September 2021, Comunidad Partners secured a $300 million financing commitment through Bellwether Enterprises and Freddie Mac that supports the creation or preservation of affordable workforce housing throughout the United States.

The unique initiative was backed by Freddie Mac’s Tenant Advancement Commitment, which offers competitive financing to operators who agree to maintain or enhance affordability and provide supportive resident services for the duration of the loan purchased by Freddie Mac.

Anthony Tarter, Executive Vice President and Director of Workforce Housing and Social Impact for Bellwether, says “Team Tarter and Bellwether Enterprises are humbled to have our good friends and client, Comunidad Partners, be named Inaugural Impact Sponsor of the Year for 2021 by Freddie Mac.

"Bellwether Enterprises has closed over $1 billion with Comunidad in the past few years and recently established a $300 million Master Financing Commitment that includes Social Impact initiatives. Comunidad is pioneering and paving the way for Social Impact Investing by implementing social services for residents.

Alexis Sofyanos

“We are excited to name Comunidad Partners as the 2021 Impact Sponsor awardee because the firm collaborates with Freddie Mac in sharing data and strategy, utilizing our Tenant Advancement Commitment, and maintaining a keen focus on tenant social services and affordability – all of which are key components of the essence of this award,” says Alexis Sofyanos, Senior Director, Equity in Multifamily Housing Group at Freddie Mac. “We look forward to our continued relationship for many years to come.”

Alexandra Chardell

Comunidad specializes in revitalizing affordable and workforce apartments in infill locations and implementing its specialized cultural management platform, which includes cultural upgrades, community investment initiatives, and ESG / social impact programs.

Social programming in its communities includes such elements as virtual health care, ESL classes, job fairs, health and wellness programs, soccer clinics, and after-school programs, among many others.

According to Alexandra Chardell, Manager, Equity in Multifamily Housing Group at Freddie Mac, the company plans to release an application to the broader market for its 2022 Impact Sponsor cohort.

“We are looking forward to expanding this new Impact Sponsor award in 2022, she said. “Details on the application and next steps will be available in the coming months.”

Bing Crosby Estate with John F. Kennedy Wing selling at $4.5 million

Crosby's favorite house site:Thunderbird Heights
with its 10 golf courses near Palm Springs, CA

PALM SPRINGS, CA -- It’s no secret that White Christmas crooner Bing Crosby’s favorite place to be was in the middle of a golf course.

He spent so much time playing golf and perfecting his game that he was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.

President John F. Kennedy

While his peers were buying their vacation houses in Palm Springs, Crosby chose nearby Thunderbird Heights with its 10 golf courses, according to TopTenRealEstateDeals.com.

Were he still with us today, he would be thrilled that it now sports 17 courses.  It was natural for President John F. Kennedy, with his seven handicap, to play with Bing.

Marilyn Monroe

In fact, Crosby dedicated an entire wing of his house to Kennedy for his own private living quarters while enjoying golf in the warm California climate.

Crosby’s mid-century modern home there, spread out across its 1.36 acres, is now for sale at $4.5 million.

Located in a gated community, Bing’s ranch-style home is complemented with grand views of mountains and city lights.

Bob Hope

Built in 1957 for indoor and outdoor living and entertaining, the 6,700-square-foot home contains a total of six bedrooms and six baths.

It includes the attached casita, named after President Kennedy, with two bedrooms, two baths, a living room and complete kitchen with its own private entrance.

The casita is completely private and was named for the President after he stayed there, as legend goes, with Marilyn Monroe

Features include custom Moroccan wood entry doors, open-and-airy formal living and dining rooms, media room and chef’s kitchen with granite-and-stainless steel.

 Desi Arnaz

All glass walls surrounding the outdoor entertainment area retract and open the house seamlessly to the pool, patios, outdoor kitchen and bar with mountain and Coachella Valley views from its elevated lot.

The now highly exclusive Thunderbird Heights started its beginnings as an onion field, but in 1950, a group of investors, including Bob Hope and Desi Arnaz, were looking for a spot for a country club.

Alexandra Trejo

They zeroed in on the onion field and the development took on a life of its own.  It has turned into one of the most coveted spots for celebrity vacation homes in Southern California, now home to major golf tournaments and festivals known around the world.

Listing agents are David Emerson and Alexandra Trejo of Compass, David Emerson & Associates, Palm Springs.
