TAMPA, FL   — Chicken Salad Chick, one of Nation’s Restaurant News 2015 Breakout Brands*, has announced plans to open its first Tampa restaurant near the University of South Florida later this summer.

Karmen Hayes of Florida Retail Partners, an X Team partner, brokered a 3,555 square foot lease for Chicken Salad Chick at University Collection in Tampa.

The newest location for the fast casual eatery which serves 15 styles of chicken salad, soups, salads and desserts will be located at the corner of East Fowler Ave and Bruce B Downs Blvd, near the University of South Florida and University Square Mall.

“We’re excited to be opening our first Tampa Bay location near the USF Campus,” said company president Kevin Brown. “The endcap space will feature a great outside dining patio.” The local franchise will be run by Brad and Tammy Cochran.

The March/April issue of Cooking with Paula Deen magazine names Chicken Salad Chick as the top spot in the country to try chicken salad.

“We are extremely honored to be featured in such an esteemed publication,” said founder Stacy Brown.

“Our team strives to provide a true chicken salad experience to each of our guests, and we hope that this recognition will allow us to serve new guests in our growing number of restaurants across the Southeast!”

The Chicken Salad Chick concept was established in Auburn, AL in 2008 in the kitchen of founder Stacy Brown. Stacy quickly learned that selling a homemade recipe from her kitchen is against the law, and after being shut down by the health department, she decided to solicit the business expertise of her future husband and fellow founder, Kevin.

Together, they opened a small takeout restaurant which quickly grew to enormous demand and additional locations.

Chicken Salad Chick has sold 100 franchises to be developed across the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North & South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas, and has plans to expand nationally in the coming years.

Chicken Salad Chick puts an edgy twist on a Southern classic, offering guests a “custom-fit” chicken salad experience with 15 original flavors to choose from, as well as gourmet soups, flavorful side salads and freshly-baked desserts.

There are currently 30 Chicken Salad Chick locations throughout the Southeast.
