CHICAGO, IL –- Evanston, Ill.-based Morgante Wilson Architects, Ltd., one of the country’s leading residential architecture and interior design firms, announces Marie Nissen has been named as the firm’s first chief financial officer.

Nissen joined Morgante Wilson Architects (MWA) in 2011 as a staff accountant, a position she held for two years prior to being named senior accountant in 2013.

“As our firm continues to grow, in terms of staff as well as the number, size and scope of projects we undertake, it has become increasingly important to have a senior leadership position dedicated to the strategic handling of our finances and guiding the processes and procedures necessary to support a firm of our size,” said Fred Wilson, co-principal of Morgante Wilson Architects.

“Marie was the perfect choice as our first CFO, since she not only knows our company inside and out as a veteran employee, but also has the professional expertise and management skills to lead our finance department in this capacity.”

In her new position, Nissen will manage all finance and accounting functions for MWA as well as financial analysis, forecasting and financial planning, working in lock-step with the firm’s principals in all matters of financial management.

“As I continue working in the field I enjoy most, I am honored to be promoted as the first CFO of Morgante Wilson Architects,” said Nissen. “My ultimate goal is to continue to develop and maintain our administrative and financial operations.

"I plan on spearheading the processes necessary to grow the company further. MWA has become such a well-respected firm, and I look forward to seeing MWA become even stronger within the industry.”

Nissen has more than a decade of accounting experience, previously serving as a staff accountant for a Chicago-based fitness club chain. She holds a bachelor’s degree from DePaul University, and also earned an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management of DeVry University.

She previously was a regular volunteer for the Center of Economic Progress, working one-on-one with tax site clients, and continues to be an active supporter of the Lupus Foundation and breast cancer awareness organizations.
