Nadel Architecture + Planning Completes Transition to Next-Generation Leadership

Greg Lyon

LOS ANGELES, CA, July 13, 2020 –  Nadel Architecture + Planning, Los Angeles’ premier architecture and design firm, has completed its ownership transition to position the company for long-term growth.

Greg Lyon and Patrick Winters, veteran principals of the firm, will continue plans to move Nadel forward as its next generation of leadership.

“Nadel has a 47-year history as a leading architectural and design firm the commercial real estate industry knows and trusts,” says Lyon, chairman of the board and principal for Nadel.

Patrick Winters
“This transition has been something that we have been working towards over the last several years and now it is complete. We are thrilled to be able to perpetuate the legacy of our iconic L.A. firm and grow it by expanding our efforts in Southern California – one of the most exciting places on the planet to be doing this kind of work.”

In its new era, Nadel will deepen its existing industry relationships and seek out new opportunities within its main areas of expertise: the retail, mixed-use, multifamily and hospitality design sectors, says Lyon, who has been with the firm since 2008 and became its chairman of the board in 2017.

Going forward, Lyon will continue to strategically drive business growth and create a strong market presence and brand equity for Nadel. An owner of the firm since 2013, he will lead Nadel’s retail sector business development efforts as the company prepares for a new post-COVID-19 normal.

“Retail design is constantly reinventing itself as the sector adapts to market forces. COVID-19 is the latest disruptor that challenges the sector, and our firm looks forward to being at the forefront of this retail evolution,” says Lyon, who has 25 years of industry experience.

Greg Palaski
“Having authored and developed many of the strategies through which Nadel has positioned itself as a trendsetter and leader within the marketplace, I am excited to take the company to the next level in the months and years ahead.”

Winters, who joined Nadel in 2007 and has been a principal of the firm and a member of its board of directors since 2013, has been appointed president.

Winters will continue to lead the firm’s design efforts for the mixed-use, multifamily and hospitality projects with a major focus on market responsiveness.

“This transition demonstrates Nadel’s longevity as well as its ability to change and grow,” Winters says. “We are here and will remain here for our existing and new clients.

 Mark Mikelson
"We are continuing to evolve our expertise as a market-based, client-focused firm, and we look forward to building upon the past to take advantage of new opportunities within our core competency.”

In addition to Lyon and Winters, Nadel’s board of directors includes Tina Tayag, chief financial officer; Greg Palaski, general manager; and Mark Mikelson, principal and Las Vegas Retail Studio Director.

 Herb Nadel
As part of this final phase to new ownership, Herb Nadel, the company’s founder, will now be in a business development role for the firm, explains Lyon.

“This ownership transition was important to Herb to continue on the legacy he created, and the fact that Herb is staying on in this founder and business development capacity, demonstrates his incredible dedication and enthusiasm about the future of this company.”
