Palmer Electric secures contract to wire new church in Sanford, FL


WINTER PARK, FL— Palmer Electric Company has secured a $700,000 contract with Turner Construction Company for electrical contracting for the new Winter Springs Seventh-day Adventist Church in Sanford, Fla.

Under its scope of services, Palmer Electric is providing site and building electrical services along with low voltage systems.

The new two-story, 60,000-square-foot facility is composed of worship space, classrooms, pre-school and administrative offices. The $9 million project is scheduled for completion in January 2011.

Slocum Platts Architects P.A. of Winter Park, Fla. is the project architect. Orlando, Fla.-based Ingenuity Engineers Inc. is the electrical engineer.

Palmer Electric Co. residential division expands

WINTER PARK, FL, Nov.  12, 2009 — Palmer Electric Co. is pleased to announce the expansion of its residential North Florida office, the opening of its new residential office in Central Florida and the signing of a new homebuilder client, Lennar Homes.


In early 2008, the Company established a 1,500-square-foot office in Jacksonville, Fla. Palmer Electric recently relocated its North Florida residential division operation to a 2,700-square-foot office/warehouse on U.S. Highway 1 North in Ponte Vedra, Fla. In Central Florida, Palmer Electric opened a 1550-square-foot residential division office on Murcott Drive in St. Cloud, Fla.

Steve Conenna promoted at Palmer Electric Co.


WINTER PARK, FL— Palmer Electric Co. is pleased to announce the promotion of Steve Conenna (top right photo)  to Operations Manager Commercial Division.

Conenna has been employed by the Winter Park-based electrical services company since 2004 as a senior project manager.

In his new management roll, Conenna is responsible for overseeing all project managers and superintendents, pre-fabrication and production procedures including pre-construction planning. He has 15 years of experience in commercial construction.

Conenna has an Associate of Science in Drafting and Design from Valencia Community College, and completed a four-year electrical apprenticeship program.

Robert Vaughn Promoted to Vice President/Commercial Division at Palmer Electric Co.

WINTER PARK, FL, Aug. 4, 2009 — Robert K. Vaughn (top right photo) has been promoted to vice president of the commercial division at Palmer Electric Company located in Winter Park, Fla.

Vaughn, who has been employed by Palmer Electric since 2002, most recently served as the Company’s vice president of commercial production.

In his new management roll, Vaughn is responsible for daily operations of the commercial division including customer service, business development, pre-construction services, field installations, quality control and project commissioning.

He is an experienced construction professional with more than 29 years in the industry. He remains on the board of directors for Palmer Electric, an employee owned company.

Vaughn is a licensed electrical contractor in Florida, and is certified by Clemson University’s business management training program. He serves as treasurer of the Academy of Construction Technologies, and is on the board of directors of the Central Florida Chapter of the Electrical Council of Florida.

Palmer Electric wins contract to upgrade Hunter's Creek Middle School in metro Orlando


WINTER PARK, Fla.,— The special projects division of Palmer Electric Company has secured a $600,000 contract for upgrades to Hunter's Creek Middle School located in south Orange County, Fla.

Under its contract with general contractor Williams Company, Palmer is providing the electrical work for a new heating ventilating and air conditioning system, and is installing cabling to network the existing nine-building campus.

According to Palmer Electric’s Manager of Special Projects Ron Howard, (top right photo) the fast track project is scheduled for completion in 40 days.

Orange County Public Schools is the owner. The general contractor is the Williams Company of Orlando, Fla. SGM Engineering Inc. of Orlando Fla., is providing electrical engineering.

Built in 1994, Hunter's Creek Middle School is located on 25-acres in south Orange County, Fla. The nine-building campus totals 158,711-square-foot of space for administration, cafeteria/auditorium, information/media center and classrooms.

Van Tilley promoted at Palmer Electric

WINTER PARK, FL– Van Tilley (top right photo) has been promoted to executive vice president at Palmer Electric Company in charge of all operating units consisting of commercial, service, residential, systems and multi-family divisions.

Tilley, who joined the 350-person electrical services company in 2002, most recently held the position of vice president - commercial division.

He remains on the board of directors for Palmer Electric, an employee owned company.

With 30 years of electrical contracting experience, Tilley’s education and trade training includes a four-year electrical apprenticeship program in Florida, construction management courses at Clemson University Business Management Academy, general studies at Jefferson Davis Community College, Biloxi, Miss., as well as the completion of numerous Fails Management seminars.

He currently serves on the board of directors of the Central Florida Chapter of Associated Builders & Contractors.

Palmer Electric Co. wins contract for assisted living facility

WINTER PARK, FL— The multi-family division of Palmer Electric Company has secured a contract for just over $300,000 for electrical services and lighting for the 78-unit assisted living facility at LifePointe Village at Orlando, a senior living complex under development in Orlando, Fla.

Under its contract with general contractor Allen & O’Hara Construction Co. LLC of Olive Branch, Miss., Palmer is providing site and building electrical contracting, and a fire alarm system for the three-story, 70,000-square-foot facility. Showcase Lighting & Home Décor Center, Palmer Electric’s sister company, is providing lighting fixtures. The project is scheduled for completion in February 2010.

The assisted living facility is the first of three levels of senior housing planned for LifePointe Village at Orlando that includes future construction of independent living residences and patio homes.

The project’s owner and developer is Orlando Central Community Inc. of Orlando, Fla. Dale Littlefield of Memphis, Tenn., is the project architect. Electrical engineering is being provided by Hall Engineering LLC of Jackson, Tenn.

Palmer Electric selected to wire North Park Baptist Church in Orlando

WINTER PARK, FL— The commercial division of Palmer Electric Company has secured a nearly $300,000 contract with H. J. High Construction Company for the electrical contracting for North Park Baptist Church located in Baldwin Park (top right photo) in downtown Orlando, Fla.

Under its scope of services, Palmer Electric is providing site and building electrical services for the new two-story, 18,000-square-foot facility composed of worship space, classrooms, a pre-school and administrative offices.

The project is scheduled for completion in November 2009.
Orlando-Fla.-based Cuhaci Peterson Architects Inc. designed the church.

Palmer Electric's Robert Vaughn named to board of Electrical Council of Florida Central Chapter

WINTER PARK, FL— Robert K. Vaughn (top right photo) has been elected to the board of directors of the Electrical Council of Florida Central Chapter.


Vaughn is vice president of commercial production and a member of the board of directors at Winter Park, Fla.,-based Palmer Electric Company. He is a licensed electrical contractor in Florida and certified by Clemson University’s business management training program.


Vaughn has nearly three decades of experience in electrical contracting and management. He also serves as treasurer of the Academy of Construction Technologies.

The Electrical Council of Florida is a non-profit trade association dedicated to unifying and strengthening all segments of Florida's growing electrical industry.


Established in 1961, the association encourages and supports education and continuing educations, promotes safety and monitors legislative activity pertinent to the electrical industry.

Palmer Electric completes tenant improvement at Dynetech Centre in Orlando

WINTER PARK, FL— Palmer Electric Co. has completed its tenant improvement contract with Turner Construction Co. for the electrical wiring and fire alarm system for Dynetech Corp.’s 40,000-square-foot corporate headquarters in its namesake, the 32-story Dynetech Centre (top right photo) in Orlando, Fla.
Baker Barrios Architects of Orlando provided architectural design for the tenant improvements.

Palmer Electric also provided electrical contracting for the 600,000-square-foot building completed last year by developer, Lincoln Property Co.

Two Palmer Electric Co. employees named to leadership positions in Academy of Construction Technologies

WINTER PARK, FL – Palmer Electric Company is pleased to announce its vice president of commercial production, Robert K. Palmer Electric completes two office buildings in SouthPark, Orlando, FL

WINTER PARK, FL, Feb. 20, 2009 — Palmer Electric Company has completed contracts totaling just under $1 million for the electrical work for two, new office buildings in SouthPark Center, (top left and right bottom photos) a commerce park in Orlando, Fla.

Under its contracts with general contractor Brasfield & Gorrie LLC, Palmer completed 800 SouthPark, a two-story, 70,533-square-foot building, and 900 SouthPark, a two-story, 18,900-square-foot building.

Both buildings were developed by Flagler Development Company Land Holdings LLC of Coral Gables, Fla. HuntonBrady Architects of Orlando, Fla., provided architectural design. CHPA Consulting Engineers of Maitland, Fla., provided electrical engineering.

Palmer Electric to wire homes for David Weekley Homes

WINTER PARK, FL — The residential division of Palmer Electric Co. has secured a contract with David Weekley Homes to provide electrical contracting services for single-family homes at Belle Vista, a gated community located on Lake Conway in Belle Isle, Fla. (top right photo)

Palmer Electric’s scope of services includes estimating, electrical wiring and lighting fixture installation.
Lighting fixtures for the project are being supplied by Palmer Electric’s sister company, Showcase Lighting and Home Décor Center in Winter Park, Fla. The estimated completion date for the subdivision is July 2010 based on home sales.

Belle Vista is a lakefront community offering ten floor plans of single-family homes ranging from 2,582- to 3,865-square-feet.

Palmer Electric Co. opens Jacksonville office

WINTER PARK, FL — Winter Park, Fla.-based Palmer Electric Co. is pleased to announce the opening of a residential division office in Jacksonville, Fla. Palmer established the 1,500-square-foot office/warehouse facility to provide electrical wiring services to North Florida homebuilders.

To date, Palmer Electric has secured contracts with Taylor Morrison at four subdivisions in Duval, Clay and St. Johns counties, and is currently wiring 57 homes under construction. The Palmer Electric Jacksonville office employs a support and field staff of nine.

Jacksonville is the latest residential division office Palmer Electric has opened outside of Central Florida. Last fall, the Company opened an office in Lakeland, Fla., to serve homebuilders in Polk and Hillsborough counties.

Palmer Electric Promotes Howard to Manage Two Divisions

WINTER PARK, FL – Palmer Electric Company is pleased to announce the promotion of Ronald G. Howard, Jr. (top right photo) to manager of the service division and the special projects division.

Howard, who joined Palmer in 1998, previously served as assistant manager of both divisions. His new responsibilities include managing operations, scheduling, quality control and staffing.

Howard has 21-years of experience in electrical contracting. He is a graduate of the electrical contracting program at Mid Florida Tech, and is a Florida licensed journeyman electrician.
Additionally, Howard graduated from the Construction Management and the Electrical Inspection programs at Valencia Community College, Orlando, Fla., completed the Construction Management Academy program at Clemson University, Clemson, S.C., and completed the mini MBA program at Rollins College, Winter Park, Fla.

Palmer Electric wins contract to wire townhomes for Lennar Homes

WINTER PARK, FL— The residential division of Palmer Electric Co. has secured a contract with Lennar Homes to provide electrical contracting services for a new townhome community, Camden Landing at Wyndham Lakes, (top right photo) located in Orlando, Fla.

Palmer Electric’s scope of services includes electrical wiring, low voltage systems and lighting fixture installation.

Lighting fixtures for the project are being supplied by Palmer Electric’s sister company, Showcase Lighting and Home Décor Center in Winter Park, Fla. The project is under construction and will be completed as sales progress.

Camden Landing at Wyndham Lakes is composed of 22, two-story buildings housing 122 townhomes offered in three floor plans that range in size from 1,733-square-feet to 1,834-square-feet.

Palmer Electric to wire 1500 SouthPark in Orlando

WINTER PARK, FL — The commercial division of Palmer Electric Company has secured a contract from Brasfield & Gorrie LLC, a general contractor, to wire 1500 SouthPark, (top right photo) an office building located in SouthPark Center in Orlando, Fla.

Palmer Electric’s scope of services is composed of site and building electrical contracting including systems for fire alarm, access control and lightning protection. The four-story, 155,000-square-foot building is scheduled for completion in April 2009.

The Jacksonville, Fla., office of Flagler Development Company Land Holdings LLC is developing the project. HuntonBrady Architects of Orlando, Fla., is the architect. CHPA Consulting Engineers of Maitland, Fla., is providing electrical engineering. Palmer Electric has provided electrical contracting services for the construction of seven buildings in SouthPark Center.

Seminole Community College bestows honorary degree on David M. Beasley

WINTER PARK, FL— David M. Beasley, senior vice president at Palmer Electric Co., received an honorary Associate of Arts degree from Seminole Community College (SCC) at a commencement ceremony held at its Sanford/Lake Mary Campus on December 12.

Beasley was honored for his efforts to improve construction education, and for his leadership role in Central Florida’s construction industry throughout his 49 year career.

Beasley currently serves on the SCC Construction Management Advisory Board. During his long association with SCC, he worked on the design, construction and funding of the Bellwether award-winning Construction Trades Building (building D) on the Sanford/Lake Mary, Fla., campus.

Beasley’s efforts helped create a unique funding mechanism to construct the building with the State of Florida providing $2.7 million and the construction industry providing matching in-kind contributions. Further, Beasley and Palmer Electric Co. continue their partnership with SCC, and their support of the construction management program through donations.

Beasley also worked with SCC and Seminole County Public Schools to offer Dual Enrollment opportunities for high school students enrolled in the Academy of Construction Technologies (ACT), an organization Beasley helped found, that affords high school students pre-apprenticeship training at SCC.

In the Commercial Mega Project category, Palmer garnered an Award of Excellence for its work on the 32-story Dynetech Centre in Orlando, Fla., and won Special Recognition in the Medical/Industrial category for Hospice of the Comforter, a healthcare facility in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

Palmer Electric Co. ranked among top specialty contractors in U.S.

WINTER PARK, FL, Nov. 5, 2008 — Winter Park, Fla.-based Palmer Electric Co. was ranked again this year as one of the largest specialty contractors in the nation by Engineering News Record.

Published in the trade magazine’s October 18 issue, Palmer Electric was listed 383, based on 2007 revenues of $48.6 million in the annual Top Specialty Contractor 600 poll.

In 2007, Palmer Electric ranked 361 with 2006 revenues of $45.1 million.
