Heidi Adams Earns CCIM Status

ORLANDO, FL – Heidi C. Adams, (top right photo) Director of Leasing for Winter Park-based Taurus Southern Investments, LLC, a subsidiary of Boston-based Taurus Investment Holdings, LLC, received the prestigious Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation.

Recognized experts in the disciplines of commercial and investment real estate, only six percent of the estimated 150,000 commercial real estate practitioners nationwide hold the CCIM designation.

In September, Adams was prominently recognized among The Top Women in Florida Commercial Real Estate 2008 by Florida Real Estate Journal.

Honored among 21 professional women statewide, Adams co-brokered an impressive $68 million in transactions during 2007, and was earlier named among Orlando Business Journal’s 2007 “Forty Under 40” most successful young business professionals.

Notably, Adams co-brokered Taurus’ $50.4 million portfolio sale of four office buildings at the Central Florida Research Park in Orlando, and her portfolio responsibilities also include nearly 1.5 million square feet of developed space in Orlando and Jacksonville.

Taurus completes 62,500-SF Discovery TechCenter II, Building One at Central Floida Research Park in Orlando

ORLANDO, FL – Boston-based Taurus Investment Holdings, LLC, has completed its new, sustainable 62,500-square-foot Discovery TechCenter II, Building One, (top right photo) Central Florida’s first environmentally-friendly LEED-CS Gold office complex at 2710 Discovery Drive in the Central Florida Research Park, Orlando, FL, according to Jeff K. McFadden, (top left photo) SIOR, Managing Partner of its Winter Park-based subsidiary Taurus Southern Investments, LLC.

McFadden said the innovative two-building, single-story, office/flex-tech complex totaling 118,400 square feet features not only the latest in green development but the finest in tenant stewardship as well.

Designed to exacting specifications developed by the U.S. Green Building Council known as the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System®, Discovery TechCenter II’s LEED-CS Gold pre-certification complies with high-performance standards for sustainable design and construction of core and shell buildings.

Award-winning Baker Barrios Architects, Inc., Orlando, served as project architect.

“Taurus Investment Holdings recognizes and appreciates the environmental benefits resulting from green design, and accordingly we feel this is the proper way to develop,” stated McFadden. “We believe that many elements designed into green buildings will become commonplace within the next decade and we are proud to be on the forefront of sustainable development in Central Florida.” Kelsey Construction, Inc., Orlando, served as general contractor for Building One.

Orlando-based Taurus Southern Investments announces sale of 6.4 acres at Central Florida Research Park to United Cerebral Palsy of Central Florida

ORLANDO, FL – Boston-based Taurus Investment Holdings and its Orlando-based subsidiary Taurus Southern Investments announced the sale of 6.14 acres at Central Florida Research Park adjacent to UCF in Orlando to United Cerebral Palsy of Central Florida.

UCP plans to construct its new state-of-the-art, 30,000-square-foot East Orange/Bailes Campus Facility on the site, according to Jeff K. McFadden, (top left photo) SIOR, Managing Partner of Taurus Southern. McFadden and Heidi C. Adams, (top right photo) Director of Leasing, represented the seller in the transaction.

Scheduled to open in August 2009, the $9.2 million project will be one of the only schools in the nation that focuses on the arts, technology and full inclusion. Services offered will include family support, Pre-K through third grade education, and therapy for children up to age 21.

“The goal of this project,” stated Ilene Wilkins, President and CEO of UCP of Central Florida, “is to create an environment where there are no limits, just life, for all children, regardless of their abilities.


"And as we move forward in establishing proven and promising practices for early intervention education, we invite the Central Florida community to join us on our journey of creating equal opportunities for all people.”

Taurus Investment Holdings Has Construction Under Way on New Discovery TechCenter II Building One in Central Florida Research Park

Additionally, the landscape irrigation system will be supplied from an on-site retention pond which, when equipped with a meter, can be connected to a gray water system that will run through Central Florida Research Park. As a result, it is anticipated that Discovery TechCenter II will use 90% less potable water than a conventional building and will save more than 450,000 gallons of water per year.
