Draper and Kramer’s David Newton Named ARM of the Year by IREM Chicago

CHICAGO, IL – Draper and Kramer, Incorporated, a national real estate services firm, is proud to announce David Newton, property manager at 1350-1360 N. Lake Shore Drive in Chicago, was named Accredited Residential Manager (ARM) of the Year by the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM)’s Chicago chapter.

The award was presented to Newton at IREM Chicago’s annual Premier Awards, held March 2 at Chicago’s Drake Hotel.

ARM certification through IREM signifies an individual has met requirements set by the organization for residential management experience and education; passed the ARM certification exam; completed IREM ethics education; and pledged to uphold the IREM Code of Professional Ethics.

Newton was nominated for the ARM of the Year honor based on factors including his leadership and management through a three-year façade rehabilitation project at 1350-1360 N. Lake Shore Drive; his initiative in pursuing professional development opportunities; his participation in programs such as Draper and Kramer’s energy committee, which is dedicated to lowering energy consumption and costs across the Draper and Kramer portfolio; and his involvement in community service, such as volunteering with the Family Empowerment Center in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood and participating in the Lydia Home Association’s “Safe Families for Children” program.

As property manager of 1350-1360 N. Lake Shore Drive, Newton oversees all aspects of operations for the 740-unit community, including managing finances and employees as well as overseeing resident services.

An eight-year veteran of the property management industry, Newton is a graduate of Xavier University, where he earned bachelor’s degrees in business administration and marketing. In addition to his involvement with IREM, he is an active member of the Chicagoland Apartment Association.

AEI Consultants Adds Two Experts to HUD Services Team

           NEWPORT BEACH, CA --  AEI Consultants, a leading commercial real estate assessment and consulting firm, has announced the expansion of its commercial real estate HUD-related service offerings and the addition of Staige Miller as Director of Environmental Services – HUD and Jeb Bonnett as Director of Building Assessments – HUD.
“Conventional loans are becoming increasingly difficult to secure, and the Multifamily Accelerated Processing (MAP) Guide was revised in 2016 with the intention of increasing the speed of loan applications, which places pressure on multifamily buyers and lenders alike,” explains Neber.
“Based on these industry trends, we recognized the need to expand our existing HUD-related service offerings, offering more clients direct access to our firm’s trusted counsel and creative solutions.”

AEI has long provided assessment and consulting services related to HUD lending regulations for multifamily and healthcare properties.
“With constantly changing regulations, as well as uncertainty based on additional proposed HUD budget changes, we are now deepening our in-house expertise,” says Holly Neber. “This expansion ensures we can quickly deliver this required expertise to meet the increased industry demand for our services.”
Miller joins AEI after 17 years as Director of Environmental Services with a national due diligence firm. Miller is a regular panelist on environment issues, in particular HEROS, at HUD Lender attended conferences. She holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental policy and planning and political science from Virginia Tech, and a Master of Public Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Bonnett joins AEI following 12 years as a Business Project Manager at a national due diligence firm. Bonnett is regularly engaged by HUD Lenders to provide guidance and training on the e-tool. He is often referred to as the ‘e-tool expert.’ He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from James Madison University.
