Project Management Advisors and Swinerton Celebrate Groundbreaking for Life Sciences Research and Lab Facility for Healthpeak Properties in San Diego, CA

 SAN DIEGO, CA — Project Management Advisors, Inc. (PMA) and Swinerton recently celebrated the groundbreaking for Sorrento Gateway at 4930 Directors Place, a research and laboratory facility for Healthpeak Properties, a national healthcare REIT.

The project consists of a ground-up 163,000-square-foot, 5-story warm-shell building; a 14,000-square-foot tenant improvement of lobby, restrooms, storage and training; and 90,000 square feet of basement parking. It is anticipated to be delivered in December 2022.

 The facility will also be amenities rich, continuing a trend in the life sciences development space. The site will include separate buildings for a fully equipped fitness center and an indoor/outdoor café, as well as beautifully landscaped outdoor event and meeting spaces.

Amidst unprecedented demand for life sciences research and production facilities, Healthpeak has continued to turn to PMA and Swinerton for project management and general contractor services, respectively, for its projects throughout the San Diego area.

 PMA and Swinerton are collaborating with architect Delawie on this project. The groundbreaking ceremony, held on August 31, included leaders from Healthpeak, PMA, Swinerton and Delawie.

 “As project managers, our job starts well before the official groundbreaking, including early and ongoing collaboration with designers and contractors, navigation through the city entitlements and permitting process, and providing a host of advisory services to owners,” said Melissa Plaskonos, Vice President of PMA.
