Susie Hilfiger Farm in Greenwich, CT Listed for $40 Million

Susie Hilfiger Farm in Greenwich, CT Offers Seven Bedrooms,
nine full baths and four half baths

GREENWICH, CT -- The name Hilfiger is synonymous with good taste, one of the world’s most popular luxury product lines including clothing, fragrances and home furnishings, according to TopTenRealEstateDeals.com.

Susie Cirona Hilfiger

Much of the brand’s early success was due to Susie Cirona who met Tommy Hilfiger in 1976 when she took a job working in his small clothing store, People’s Place, in Ithaca, New York.

Tommy and Susie Hilfiger

Married in 1980, Susie helped her husband build the Hilfiger brand from their obscure startup into a world-class conglomerate that was sold in 2006 for $1.6 billion.

The celebrity couple had four children in their 20-year marriage, before a divorce in 2000.

Joseph Verner Reed, Jr.

In 1995, the Hilfigers bought their family home, the 17-acre Denbigh Farm in Greenwich, Connecticut, for $8.5 million.

Overlooking Long Island Sound, Denbigh Farm was where the Hilfigers raised their children and where Mrs. Hilfiger continued to live after their divorce, while Tommy purchased a nearby Greenwich farm.

Now that their children are grown and living in California, Susie is moving to the West Coast to be close to them. Still fast friends with Tommy, who recently sold his farm for $45 million, Susie is using the same real estate agent who has listed her farm at $40 million.

Built in 1775 with large open fireplaces in almost every room and a stunning recessed curved stairwell in the grand foyer, the home’s historical features have been carefully preserved, one of the best of Greenwich’s long line of grand estate homes.

Duke and Duchess of Windsor

At approximately 14,000 square feet, there are seven bedrooms, nine full and four partial baths.

There are rooms for every interest, from the formal living and dining rooms to the ballroom with its fireplace surround from the Hermès home in Paris, to a flower arranging room, a silver storage room and an original meat locker for cold storage.

Janet Milligan

The hand-painted Chinese rice-paper wallpaper in the dining room was gratis of its 1930’s owner, Joseph Verner Reed, Jr., a past U.S. Ambassador to Morocco.

There is also a collection of furniture that Suzie purchased from the Paris home of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, head-turning artwork grace the walls and every square inch of the home was clearly considered whenever Susie redecorated.

Some furnishings can be privately negotiated with the sale of the estate.

The grounds hold magic for adults and children alike. An equestrian estate, there is a six-stall stable, two paddocks and an outdoor riding ring surrounded by crisp white equestrian fencing.

Within the immaculate landscaping is a pool terrace located away from the main house, a tennis court, a perfect scale replica of Mount Vernon as a children’s playhouse, a treehouse, an attractive goat house and chicken house, a greenhouse next to a white-picket-fenced vegetable garden, paths, summer houses, several guest houses, a wisteria-covered walkway and beautiful vistas seen in every direction.

Denbigh Farm, with spectacular views of Long Island Sound, is listed for $40 million by Janet Milligan of Sotheby’s International Realty Greenwich Brokerage.

Two Classic Midcentury Modern Homes In One Property on Sale for $12.5 Million in Pasadena, CA

A. Quincy Jones

PASADENA, CA -- For the first time since they were commissioned, for sale at $12.5 million are dual, custom-designed midcentury homes by modernist pioneers A. Quincy Jones and Thornton Ladd.

 Thornton Ladd

Since 1954, the property was the home of Adelaide Hixon, the late philanthropist, who called Pasadena home for more than 100 years, according to TopTenRealEstateDeals.com.

Adelaide Hixon

Surrounded by ancient trees and very private, the complex is perched on a hilltop with views that encompass the Rose Bowl, San Gabriel Valley, downtown Los Angeles and the Pacific Ocean.

Gus Ruelas

Hixon commissioned the Thornton Ladd home in 1954 and started buying additional adjoining lots until she owned a bit over three acres.

At that point, she hired Jones to design an additional home that she used to entertain her guests for fundraising events.

Their original Ladd home of 3,000 square feet, three bedrooms and four baths is entered through a frosted-glass-enclosed courtyard into spacious rooms with original terrazzo floors, custom floor-to-ceiling built-ins and glass with views of the pool and Japanese gardens.

Anthony Guthmiller

Across the courtyard, they built the 6,500-square-foot Jones home with three bedrooms, five baths, a large freestanding fireplace in the expansive living room and floor-to-ceiling glass walls and angular, double-height roof.

It was perfect for entertaining where guests could meander through the Zen-like gardens, koi ponds and Luis Barragán-influenced cascading waterfall.

Together, the property contains a total of 9,500 square feet of living space, six bedrooms and nine baths.

Reached via a long driveway that winds up the hill, it ends at a large motor court with parking space for multiple guests.

Mauricio Umansky

Privacy shade trees, Zen gardens and the exceptional architecture lends itself to creating an almost magical environment for the new owner.

The Hixen estate, among the most architecturally significant estates in California, is listed by Gus Ruelas, Anthony Guthmiller and Mauricio Umansky of The Agency, Beverly Hills.
