SARASOTA, FL – SchenkelShultz Architecture, Sarasota, one of Florida’s leading green design firms, completed the School Board of Sarasota County’s new $16.5 million, 73,370-square-foot Suncoast Polytechnical High School (top right rendering) in Sarasota, FL, representing the first phase of the 72-acre Sarasota Technical Center campus under design by SchenkelShultz.
Incorporating the latest in information technology, the facility features three technology labs, 100% wireless Internet access, 2,000 network drops embedded under raised floors to provide instructional flexibility, Activboard interactive screens in all instructional areas, and two flat screen TVs at the entrance which display information and student exhibitions.
In addition, the school is organized utilizing the ‘small learning communities concept’ and allows for a seamless integration of core curriculum subjects and career technical education. The flexible and easily adaptable spaces accommodate both group and individual learning styles which increase collaborative learning.

Lutgert Hall is the sophisticated home to university business students and the signature building marking the entrance to the university’s campus.
Filled with natural light, the bright and vibrant environment is inviting to students and convenient to the business community.
The four-story building contains: ten classrooms and two tiered case study classrooms; three conference rooms for students and faculty; a student affairs suite; a career development suite with an interview room; a student management portfolio room and an executive training room; a three-story atrium with a student lounge area; and dean’s suite and faculty offices.
Owens, Ames, Kimball Company, Fort Myers, served as construction manager for the project.
